This book has been designed to meet the needs of the student faced with acquiring the anatomical knowledge necessary to complement clinical experiences met with in modern curricula. In particular it applies to the Medical and Nursing professions, and to the Allied Sciences. It shows how anatomical structure is related to function and dysfunction, and how these are related to symptomatology, diagnosis and the treatment of disease processes as they are encountered. The various anatomical regions of the body are considered. Where it is necessary to give added weight, basic physiology is introduced. Ideally, this book should be combined with the study of the skeleton, prosected and museum preparations, anatomical models, and X-rays.
The various regional systems are considered with emphasis on major points and principles. The all important opening chapter, embryology, illustrates how the various systems are developed. It is cross-referenced throughout the ensuing chapters, and provides more intimate and lasting understanding of the many anatomical abnormalities which may be encountered.
