 RHEF Rural Health Education Foundation not-for-profit charitable organisation delivering live interactive television education to rural and remote health professionals.

 Medicare CME - PBS education page General practices can take advantage of a half hour interactive education session about PBS restricted medicines (62k) This is a pdf document when the State PBS Education Coordinator is in their area. Education Coordinators offer practices within various regions the opportunity to have a PBS education session in their own practice. These sessions are approved by the RACGP Quality Assurance and Continuing Professional Development (QACPD) Program - allocated 2 points/hour; total CPD points 1 (Group 2). The session can be modified to meet the needs of the individual practice; shorter versions will not attract CPD points.

CME Online - CMEOnline specialises in continuing medical education and offers over 1000 hours of RACGP accredited courses online. The courses are complete with interactive multiple choice questions which when answered correctly allow the doctor to request a certificate of completion.

 PriMeD. Med-E-Serv, has an online CPD program for GPs called PriMeD. It is fully accredited by the RACGP, RACP and our mental health stream is endorsed by the GPMHSC for the Level 1 BOMHI. Over 7000 Australian GP's have engaged with the program since it began in March last year. (2002)

NSW GP Procedural
Training Program

The program is targeted at GP's and GP Registrars currently in rural practice or intending to take up rural practice.

The Program provides for the salary costs for up to 12 months fulltime for GPs and GP Registrars to undertake training in rural locations in five specialities:

  • Anaesthetics
  • Emergency Medicine
  • Mental Health
  • Obstetrics
  • Surgery
This is a joint initiative of NSW Health & RDA NSW, NSW RDN, RACGP & ACRRM

The GP Procedural Training Program is a NSW Govt funded initiative aimed at equipping General Practitioners working in rural communities with a range of procedural skills that will support the delivery of healthcare services locally.

This program is endorsed by all of the relevant Medical Colleges through the Joint Consultative Committee structures (ACRRM, RACGP and other relevant Medical Colleges ie Aust & NZ College of Anaesthetists)

Training posts meet approved training standards determined by all relevant Medical Colleges and the training is offered in rural centres where possible.
